Asthma is a common respiratory condition that makes breathing difficult due to the irritation of the airways.

Symptoms include:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Wheezing
  • Coughing and tightness in the chest

Asthma attacks can be serious if they are not treated, and it is advised to get medications that are effective in providing symptom relief and prevention.

As a trusted and UK registered online pharmacy, all treatments we prescribe are approved by the Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). See our wide range of treatments below.

How it works

Asthma Treatments: What to Expect?

Straightforward answers to frequently asked questions.

Can the Ventolin inhaler be used for a cough?

A doctor may prescribe a Ventolin blue asthma inhaler if you are suffering from a cough that affects your breathing.

Ventolin contains Salbutamol which helps to soothe the airways, suppressing the need to cough.

It is advised not to use the Ventolin inhaler in the treatment of a cough unless you have been prescribed one from your doctor for this purpose.

What is an inhaler spacer?

An asthma spacer is a large empty tube which attaches to the inhaler so that you can breathe the medication from the inhaler spacer itself rather than directly from the inhaler.

This makes it easier to aim the medication and breathe it to the deepest parts of your lungs instead of spraying it at the back of the throat and your upper airways, making it more efficient to use because you are using less medicine.

Do I need a prescription from my GP for these treatments?

There are several treatment options available for asthma. Some treatments may require a prescription from your GP.
